St. Thomas Christmas Market is the oldest and largest event of its kind in Helsinki. The market attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. In 2015, the Huffington Post ranked Helsinki Christmas Market among the 15 European Christmas markets we love to love. The market takes place in the centre of Helsinki in the Senate Square and is surrounded by imposing neo-classical buildings designed by Carl Ludvig Engel. Local Finnish produce, good local food, quality, unique gifts and, of course, the Christmas spirit are the main focus of the market.

The heart of the market beats to a hugely popular, old-fashioned merry-go-round offering free rides to children and others who are young at heart. The centre of the market is home to a cluster of licensed food courts focusing on regional specialities. Food is served from restaurants and food stalls to eat on the premises. In the gift alleys surrounding the food courts, there are over a hundred vendors selling traditional handicraft, the latest design and utility products, as well as produce, including honey, pastries, spices, mushrooms, jams, meat and fish, from primary producers and farms.

The Christmas Sauna is a mixed sauna (both women and men) for up to 15 persons, and the fee is 5 euros for an hour.
